What is the 8:00 am Contemplative Service?
This is a very intimate laity-led, half-hour service with some soft music, a reading, time for reflection and the celebration of communion.
What is the 10:30 am Main Service?
Our principal (10:30 am) worship service combines elements of both traditional worship and more contemporary worship. A wonderful choir and special song selections by invited guests and church members bring God’s message alive through music. Instead of trying to fit into the mold of any one style of worship, we seek to incorporate elements of worship that best express the scripture theme of the day.
Beginning Sunday, July 7th we will begin the new book “A Layman’s Guide to Protestant Theology” by William Hordern.
The events of the twentieth century have led to a rebirth of Protestant theology. This book is intended to help the layperson discover what is going on in theology. In clear, nontechnical language, it traces the rise of orthodoxy since the sixteenth century, and proceeds to examine schools such as fundamentalism, liberalism, and neo-orthodoxy. Because of their great influence and importance, the theologies of Karl Barth, Reinhold Niebuhr, and Paul Tillich are treated separately, and this revised and expanded edition contains new chapters on Rudolf Bultmann, Dietrich Bonhoeffer, and the God is Dead” controversy.
At this time, Scrip is being purchased for office use only. The future use of the Scrip program will be based on congregational interest in pursuing and feasibility of administration.
