SUPERHEROES OF THE NATIVITY

Note: It was decided unanimously by the cast that Wonder Woman doesn’t need a man; therefore, Joseph will not be portrayed in this year’s play.

ACT I, SCENE I (THE ANNUNCIATION)  

Music: Is She With You? (Music fades as Narrator speaks)

Wonder Woman enters. Flash runs all around and then runs to Wonder Woman.                                                           

Narrator: A long time ago there was an angel named The Flash who was sent by God to Paradise Island, with a message for a young princess named Diana.

[Poster: CHEER]

Narrator: The Flash appeared to her and said –

Flash: Greetings, Wonder Woman! You’re blessed! God is with you!

Wonder Woman: What do you mean?

Narrator: She was deeply troubled by what Flash said and wondered what this greeting might mean. Then Flash said to her –

Flash: Don’t be afraid Wonder Woman, because God is pleased with you. Listen, you will be gifted with a son, and you will name him Clark Kent. He will be the greatest superhero of all time! Faster than a speeding bullet! More powerful than a locomotive! Able to leap tall buildings in a single bound!

Wonder Woman: How can this be?

Flash: A star will fall from the sky and bring us a savior. He will be called Superman. And you will be his guardian.

Wonder Woman: I am the servant of God. As you have spoken it, so be it.

Narrator: Then The Flash left her.  

Music: The Flash (Main TV Theme)

The Flash runs all over and exits.

[Poster: Applaud]

 

ACT I, SCENE II (THE BIRTH)    

Music: Vampire Hunters.

Narrator: At that time, President Lex Luthor sent an order to all people in the country that no immigrants were to be allowed in. This was the first time this had ever taken place.

[Poster: BOOO]

So Wonder Woman left the Amazon and made her way to the tiny town of Smallville, in Kansas.

Music: Batman Theme – 1966

Wonder Woman walks over to Batman

Wonder Woman: Is this Kansas?

Batman: Yes, but we have no room here. There may be room for you in the cornfields.

Music: Wonder Woman (Theme)

Narrator: When Wonder Woman arrived in the cornfields she witnessed an amazing sight as a bright shooting star landed before her feet. In the star she found a baby boy wrapped in cloths.

Music: Trumpet and Tuba (Superman)

 

ACT I, SCENE III (THE REVELATION)

Music: Theme from Daredevil (2015 “TV Series”)

Narrator: Now in Kansas were farmers out in the fields, keeping watch through the night. Some were fish farmers like Aquaman and some were corn farmers like Harly Quinn. Suddenly there stood before them The Flash and the splendor of the Speed Force shone round them. They were terror-stricken, but The Flash said: Don’t be afraid, for I have good news for you. It will be a joy to all the people. Today your Savior has landed in Smallville. He’s pretty super. This is how you will know him: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths in the middle of a corn field.

Narrator: All at once there was with The Flash a great company of superheroes were praising God saying…

Everyone: Gloria in Excelsis Deo!  

[Poster: Cheer]

Narrator: After The Flash had left them, the farmers and shepherds said to one another – Come, we must go straight to Smallville and see what has happened.

Aquaman, Harly Quinn, and fishes come forward and sit facing baby Jesus.

Narrator: So they went with all speed and found their way to Wonder Woman and the Baby. And the baby that came from the sky was lying in a manger in the corn field.

 

ACT I, SCENE IV (THREE KINGS)

Music: Lex Luthor’s Lair (Play quietly and fade as Luthor speaks his lines)

Narrator: When Lex Luthor heard this, he was troubled, and all his evil empire with him; he gathered all his spies and inquired where this baby was born. They told him, “In Smallville, Kansas”. Then Lex Luthor summoned the Wise Superheroes secretly and ascertained from them when the Shooting star had appeared. And he sent them to Smallville, saying:

Lex Luthor: Go and search diligently for the Baby, and when you have found him, bring me word, that I too may come and see him.

Narrator: After listening to the Luthor, they went on their way following yonder star.

 

ACT I, SCENE V (GIFTS)

Music: Spiderman Theme Song (ends as they arrive on stage)

Cyborg, Spider-Man, and Catwoman enter.

Narrator: Now after the baby had crash landed in Kansas, behold three Wise Superheroes from the east came to Smallville. There was Cyborg, Spiderman, and Catwoman. And going into the burned corn fields they saw the baby with Wonder Woman. Then, opening their treasures, they offered him gifts!

Music: The Justice League Theme – Logos

Cyborg: I’m Cyborg, and for the Prince of Peace I bring this gift! (Hold up t-shirt and then lay it in the manger).

Spider-Man: I’m Spidey and for this special baby I bring this gift! (Hold up red cape and then lay it in the manger).

Catwoman: I’m Catwoman, and for our Savior I bring this gift! (Hold up the shoes then lay them in the manger).

Narrator: And being warned in a dream not to return to Lex Luthor, the Wise Superheroes departed by another way.

Music: Silent Night (End after first verse)

Song ends, and we bow!

Narrator: THE END
