“The Rosa Parks Decision”

Scripture: Mark 1: 21 – 28

Jill A. Kirchner-Rose, MDIV, DMIN – Mark 1: 21 – 28 – February is Black History Month; it is a month in which we honor the remarkable contributions of African-Americans. These contributions literally transformed the society in which we live. This Sunday we will honor Rosa Parks who took a stand by taking a seat. She said, “I sat because I was tired.” But she did not mean that her feet were tired. She meant that her soul was tired, her heart was tired, her whole being was tired of playing by racist rules. Each one of us faces the “Rosa Parks decision.” Will we respect our deep truth within and live the undivided life? May both, Rosa Parks and Jesus of Nazareth, inspire us to honor our soul.
