Whoever you are, wherever your spirit, mind, and body are on life’s journey… you are welcome here.

It can be daunting to go to a church service for the first time or after having been away for a while. We know because we’ve all been there. We try to make our Sunday services as welcoming and understandable to the newcomer as we can. Here’s some information we hope will make your visit more enjoyable.RUCC Celebration Ringers Handbells

What does the 10:30 am Sunday service look like?

Our worship service combines elements of both traditional and contemporary worship.  Our wonderful choir and special song selections by church members and guest musicians bring God’s message alive through music.  Instead of trying to fit into the mold of any one style of worship, we seek to incorporate elements of worship that best fit the theme of the day.

How long do services last?

About an hour.

Will I have to say anything, sign anything, or be singled out in any way?

We hope to greet you and welcome you when you arrive, but we don’t have a “shake-your-neighbor’s-hand” time. We know that feels off-putting for a lot of folks. There are cards in the pew pockets you can drop in the offering plate if you’d like to connect with the pastor or give us your information. It’s OK to remain anonymous, too!

What style of preaching is presented?
We strive to provide upbeat messages that are not only inspirational, they also help apply scripture to everyday life. Sermons touch the heart and give you something to think about all week. The messages are progressive, engaging, thought-provoking, and with a sense of humor.  No one has to feel as if they are on trial or judged. We are a church of grace.

Are Children Welcome?

Children are always welcome for all parts of our worship service. They are invited to the front of the church for the Children’s Circle, but your child is welcome to join the others or stay with you.

After the Children’s Circle, kids are invited to Sunday School, for worship and educational activities. You are welcome to accompany them, if you wish.

We have activity bags at the entrance to keep your kids engaged.

Is there a nursery?

We provide child care for infants and toddlers in our nursery, located adjacent to Covenant Hall. You are welcome to sit in the gathering area (sometimes called the narthex) with your infant or toddler during the service. There are pews there for your comfort and our sound system ensures that you can fully participate in the service.

Am I welcome to receive communion?

We celebrate communion the first Sunday of the month. All are invited to participate. When we come forward, we take a bit of bread and dip it in the cup, then return to our seats. Gluten-free options are available.

How should I dress?

Redlands UCC is a “come as you are” church. We are all about being comfortable and encouraging everyone to be themselves. Casual dress, such as shorts, t-shirts, flip-flops, etc., are very common, while some folks prefer slacks or dresses.

Am I expected to give money?
Nope. We hope you do not feel pressure to give. Giving is an act of worship and an expression of gratitude for folks who consider RUCC their church home, allowing them to share in the church’s ministry to our community and to the world.

What happens after the service?

After the service, you are invited to fellowship time in Covenant Hall where you can connect with other folks from the church and enjoy refreshments.

Are your facilities handicapped accessible?
Yes, the entire church facility including the gathering area, restrooms, and sanctuary are wheelchair accessible. If it’s easier for access, please pull into the circular drive in front of the building and ask a greeter to park your car for you.

How do I get there and is parking available?
Click here for a map. Our parking lot is big and there’s extra parking on the streets.

Are you affiliated with a particular denomination?
RUCC is a congregation of The United Church of Christ and is connected to other congregations in the Southern California Nevada Conference. While we are a UCC church, people who attend come from a wide variety of faith backgrounds.
