“My Cup Runneth Over”

Psalm 23 – In the United Church of Christ, the third Sunday of May is Mental Health Sunday. Mental health is a timely topic these days. Social distancing and quarantining are negatively affecting the mental health of many. Older adults and single people may be experiencing increased feelings of loneliness and anxiety. Working parents with children experience increased anxiety as they homeschool their children and try to meet professional demands. Job loss and income insecurity, also, negatively impact mental health. In addition, there are higher levels of burnout and strain among front line health care workers. According to a recent survey, forty-five percent of people say that this pandemic has negatively affected their mental health and nineteen percent say it has had “a major impact.” During these challenging times, how do we protect our mental health? Can our faith help us?
