“The Bubonic Plague, COVID-19, and Julian of Norwich”

Psalm 91: 1 – 6 — Jill A. Kirchner-Rose, MDIV, DMIN – Julian of Norwich lived during a tumultuous time in which waves of the bubonic plague continued to devastate Europe. This plague claimed the lives of 50% of Julian’s city population. Julian was only six years old when the first such plague occurred. In the midst of this reoccurring pandemic, Julian wrote about the radical goodness of life. “All things shall be well. All things shall be well. All manner of things shall be well.” How is Julian able to affirm the goodness of life in the midst of devastation? Does Julian have a word of wisdom for us in the midst of COVID-19?
